Tariffs
We've had many customers asking about Tariffs and how they may affect their reservations. Factually, we really don't know the full impact currently.
As of March 27, 2025, any newly arriving products coming from China through the USA, will now have a 20% tariff applied by the USA distributor/manufacturer. There is also word this tariff could increase further at any time. Additionally, the Canadian government has implemented reciprocal tariffs of 25% on all products being imported from the USA. It includes model trains manufactured in the USA (ie. Micro-Trains, Kadee, Woodlands Scenics, etc).
Update from Rapido: They will be separating all incoming orders going forward. Mainly Canadian releases will continue to be sent to their Toronto warehouse for distribution. The US releases and releases of mainly US roads will now be imported to their new US warehouse in Buffalo. Tariffs will be charged at the rate of 4.8% per 10% of US tariffs on China. As there are no tariffs currently on imports to Canada from China, unfortunately it seems our customers modeling US roads will pay more.
Update from Horizon/Athearn/Genesis: Effective immediately, all products will be increased by 10% due to tariffs from China. This effects all in stock product as well as all reservations and future product. CVR will only be adjusting prices as product arrives, this does not effect current inventory at CVR.
